Working to the light

Glaze reads differently under warm light, so every decision followed from keeping the north windows unobstructed. Storage went to the south wall where the shadow falls, the wet bench sits under the glass, and the palette stays close to unfinished clay so nothing on the shelf is competing with the room.

The wet bench is the one fixed thing in the room. Everything else is on castors, because a workshop that cannot be rearranged stops being a workshop about two years in.

The shelving is deliberately shallow. A deep shelf becomes a place to lose work, and a ceramicist needs to see the whole batch at once.
