Six houses, one plan

The party walls stay. What changes is the rhythm of the openings through them, so the sequence reads as a deliberate enfilade rather than as a conversion that ran out of money. Every opening is on the same centre line, which took a fortnight of setting out and is the only reason the trick works.

One opening, repeated six times. The reveal is deep enough to read as a wall you pass through rather than a hole knocked in one.
House one, looking through all six
House six, looking back
Six stairs stay where they were. Rationalising them into two would have been cheaper to build and would have made the plan illegible from inside any one house.

Through the houses

The full run, which is thirty-eight metres.

The rear elevation, largely untouched
New glazing, only where a wall had already gone

A repetition you can feel is worth more than a space you can't read.

The party walls were never the problem. The doors through them were.
